Having directed a wide array of project types over 28 years—including custom residential, multi-family housing, commercial spaces, and institutional facilities—I bring a wide perspective to every commission. How are architectural fees typically structured?
I believe in absolute fee transparency and tailor our structures to fit the specific scope and complexity of your project. Depending on the nature of the work, fees are typically structured in one of three ways: a fixed flat fee for clearly defined scopes, a percentage of the total construction cost, or an hourly rate for early-stage consultations and exploratory feasibility studies. During our initial proposal phase, we will clearly outline the fee structure so you can plan your project budget with confidence.
How do you collaborate with clients during the initial design phase?
My view of the design process is a shared journey. As a strategic facilitator, our process begins with an in-depth visioning phase where we listen closely to your functional requirements, aesthetic goals, and budgetary parameters. We study the unique constraints and opportunities of your site to discover its latent potential. For over nearly three decades, I have served as a project architect, designer, and principal lead designer, building a diverse portfolio of work. This extensive background provides clients with the deep technical expertise, regulatory knowledge, and sophisticated design judgment typically found at larger firms, delivered through the highly personalized, attentive framework of a dedicated solo practice.
